Biography

Andrew McKenna has been around racing cars since he was old enough to remember. His father, Mike, was a local competition driver as Andy was growing up.

Andy blames his father for absolutely everything, including the sleepless nights chasing racing deals, the obsession with studying car control and technique and pretty much everything else he can think of.

His father, conversely, blames Andrew for his own sleepless nights and the catalogue of wrecks and broken glass he left wherever he went in his teenage formative years as he perfected his technique and found out where the limit was....

North East UK Karting Champion in the late eighties / early nineties, Andrew was described by the motoring press of the day as the next big name professional driver.

Of course, having the skill is one thing. But more than ever these days, having the millions required to fulfil such promise is another thing entirely. Throughout the early nineties, Andrew worked for large professional driver training organisations including the Silverstone Race School and Donnington Race School, gaining valuable experience in professional driver training.

Many years later, Andy is proud to earn his living in the racing industry and works as a driver coach for racing teams and driver training organisations in both Europe and North America. The arrival (in quick succession!) of his two young sons forced Andy to suspend actively pursuing racing deals and concentrate on the driver coaching side of the business.

Nemesis sports prototype, Pembry 2004 3rd overall and best result from the chasis in previous 12 months. Andrew's first race since 1999.
